Has anyone got any good 'JWs and alcohol' stories? I always found it amazing that so many JWs got blind drunk at parties and got away with it! I suppose alcohol was the only fun thing we were allowed to partake in...

The length of a public talk
by Farmer Jim1 indoes anyone ever wonder the good they could have done instead of giving a public talk for 45 or 30 minutes?
i remember giving my first public talk aged 18 and even then i was thinking ' this is just me making up half truths trying to blind people with jw propaganda'.
fast forward 15 years to when i gave my final public talk and i was so close to seeding the 30 minutes with ideas that could possibly wake people up but i never had the guts.. in that 30 minutes i could have done so much real good for a person instead of spreading this awful religions dogma.

im just gauging interest in a possible ex JW meet-up in Manchester on the weekend of July 30th?
planning to go to a bar somewhere around the centre, maybe deansgate and possibly a meal somewhere. If there’s enough interest we could possibly do something on the Saturday as well like a walk. Any suggestions welcome.

Top Ten List of What Happens Next...

What does everyone think will happen next on the back of the coronavirus pandemic?
These are my suggestions;
1) Coronavirus will have a disproportionate effect on JW ‘growth’ countries like in South America and Africa. Many JWs there will die.
2) JWs on the fringes in western countries will not want to physically go back to meetings and attendances will drop.
3) When the field ministry starts up again there will be a reluctance from a minority of JWs and some of these will either become inactive or fabricate more ministry hours (inactivity for beginners).
4) JW numbers may experience localised increases in some areas due to pandemic scenario/end time rhetoric.
5) Recession = Less contributions
6) Because of above the Kingdom Hall consolidation programme increase in speed. More hall sold.
7) GB has to find a new ‘shiny bit of paper’ to distract JWs when reality bites. They’ve already done it with the music and JW broadcasting so maybe a reduction in pioneer hours? A big announcement they’ve been storing up for times like this?
8) A little bit more speculative- they will get rid of C.Os. Why pay for them? What do they actually achieve for the organisation?
9) Maybe more ‘out there’- GB will make suggested direct debit amounts that JWs should set up.
10) long shot- all halls get sold and they go back to meeting in smaller groups in homes. Let’s face it they need the cash.
tell me what you think and give us your predictions

Craziest thing you ever saw in a KH?
by dubstepped ini did this in my facebook group for my podcast and it was fun.. so what's the craziest thing you ever saw?.
for me it was watching a brother have a heart attack during the meeting in the auditorium.
i was a kid and noticed him shaking and acting strange.

Farmer Jim1
It’s not as dramatic as some of your fine examples but there was this one time that the announcement was made that a piece of paper was going to be given to every audience member.
You were told you had to write down the amount of money you expected to contribute over the next year. When the attendant tried to give me the piece of paper I shook my head and refused to take it. He kind of stood there in shock for a moment and it turned into a bit of a scene. Trouble was I was two rows from the front so everybody watched the standoff.
It was probably the first act of non compliance that many had seen in the cong for some time.
I could tell that some of the elders were itching to give me a roasting afterwards but they didn’t. Likely because I knew how to fight them at their own game at that point.

The festive period
by Farmer Jim1 inso having spent xmas day and boxing day on my own (which has actually been really enjoyable) it has given me time to reflect on how fortunate i am to be free of the jehovah’s witness cult!
i would previously been guilted into going door knocking on xmas day and would have been half heartedly preparing for a thursday night meeting/indoctrination session which i didn’t want to be at.
heres to all the folks still stuck in the cult that secretly want to leave - i’m thinking of you as i’m sure many others on this site are, and we’re all here to help you pick up the pieces when you eventually take the plunge and leave the abusive relationship that the cult has with you.. happy festive everyone and special thanks to those that supported me when i left..
